Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Chairperson of the Council of the Federation Committee on Foreign Affairs Mr. Konstantin Kosachev in Moscow on Thursday, 31 January 2019.

Minister Alhakim welcomed the activation of parliamentary visits between the foreign relations committees of the Iraqi Council of Representatives and Russian Federation Council and stressed the need to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries, pointing out that Russian support for Iraq was very important in defeating terrorism.

President Barham Salih on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, mourned the Iraqi Archeologist Dr. Lamia al-Gilani, who passed away at the age of 80, in Amman.
His Excellency lauded the prestigious status of the deceased and her distinguished efforts in the field of archeology.

"We have received with deep pain and grief the news about the death of archaeologist Dr. Lamia al-Gilani, one of the first Iraqi women, who excavated the rich archaeological heritage of the country, and she was an expert in Sumerian seals.

President Barham Salih received a delegation representing the World Bank headed by Dr. Merza Hasan the Dean of the Board and Executive Director of the Bank Group and his accompanying delegation, at the Presidential Office on Tuesday January 29, 2019.
The President expressed Iraq's desire to optimally cooperate with the World Bank in various fields in a way that achieves prosperity and progress of the country.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation Secretary General Mr. Jens Stoltenberg on the sidelines of the Davos Economic Forum in Switzerland.

Minister Alhakim praised NATO’s support for the Iraqi forces in its war against Da’esh terrorist gangs and stated that it is time now for a practical strategic cooperation aimed at developing the capabilities of the Iraqi security forces and their institutions and providing assistance in a number of important military areas, expressing Iraq's desire to strengthen and develop them in a manner that supports... The Foreign Ministry condemns the Turkish forces opening of fire on citizens in the Shiladizi area and the Sabri compound in the Amadiyah district of Duhok Governorate, which led to one death and several wounded. This was followed by Turkish military aircraft flying at low altitudes which frightened citizens.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Jordanian Foreign Minister Mr. Ayman Al-Safadi on the sidelines of the Davos Economic Forum in Switzerland.

Minister Alhakim stressed Iraq's pride in the close and distinguished relations between the two countries, expressing at the same time Baghdad's keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation and develop channels of communication and consultation on regional issues in support of solidarity and joint action in facing the various challenges in the region, and achieving the hopes of the two peoples for greater stability and prosperity

His Excellency Prime Minister Adil Abd Al-Mahdi confirmed that Iraqi's are capable of finding solutions to all crises and building a better future and we are optimistic to achieve this.

During His Excellency presence today in the Iraqi Inventors Forum on their third annual day, call to enhance self confidence, abilities and competencies of Iraq, not rely on the import of solutions from abroad, remove obstacles and laws that hinder creative initiatives.

Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Alhakim met with Secretary General of the Arab League Mr. Ahmed Abu Gheit in Beirut on the sidelines of the joint meeting of Foreign Ministers, and Ministers of the economic and social Council in preparation for the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit in its fourth session.

His Excellency Prime Minister Adil Abd Al-Mahdi received His Majesty the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Abdullah II, who arrived in Baghdad on an official visit.
