As part of the Embassy’s efforts to strengthen academic and technical cooperation between Iraq and the United States, Ambassador Nazar Al-Khairallah visited the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) in the State of Iowa, in collaboration with the National U.S.–Arab Chamber of Commerce.
During the visit, His Excellency was briefed on the college’s academic and vocational programs, which serve more than fifty thousand students in the fields of science, technology, energy, national security, and artificial intelligence. He commended the advanced level achieved by U.S. educational institutions in linking education to economic development and technological progress.
The Ambassador also discussed with the college’s leadership potential avenues of cooperation with Iraqi educational institutions in the areas of vocational training, technical education, and short-term certificate programs. He affirmed that the Government of Iraq attaches great importance to developing the vocational and technical education system and to empowering young people to keep pace with global technological transformations.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Embassy expressed its appreciation to Mr. David Hamod, President of the National U.S.–Arab Chamber of Commerce, for his outstanding efforts in coordinating productive meetings and organizing the visit program in the States of Iowa and Nebraska — efforts that contribute to strengthening the partnership between the Embassy and the Chamber, and to advancing academic and economic cooperation between Iraq and the United States.
